Campsite Reviews

Review of Carrick Dhu, Portrush submitted on22nd May 2018 by J Finney
As usual,a lovely stay in Carrick Dhu. Spotless toilet block and laundry facilities. An excellent park for our 5 and 3 year olds, and the location meant we could walk the kids to the beach, and Portstewart on foot for us in the evening.
Pitches are not too close, room for an awning and car on each pitch. Every pitch is serviced, and all on grass which is ideal for pitching an awning. The chippy is handy on a lazy evening ,just missing the shop, which is still closed. No hesitancy in returning, if I can get a free weekend.

Was a bit dubious about arriving on this site. Booked day before for May bank hol weekend and was able to get a pitch without ehu. Was also told I was the last pitch so I knew it would be a full house. Anyway site easy to find, through portrush and head towards portStewart. Easy check in. No deposit needed for entrance barrier. Was given a map, with our pitch number. Clear instructions on how to get to the "walled garden" toilets/shower and water clearly marked. Drove up to walled garden and was impressed with how big the pitches are. Plenty of room for large tent and car etc. Site was spotless and very friendly. Toilets very close to walled garden, about a minutes walk. But bring a torch for a nighttime visit to the loo as it's very dark and lights turned out. Water tap at car entrance to walled garden. And bins facing the entrance. A very busy site overall but noise really is kept to a minimum. There is a chippy at entrance to the caravan park and the tides restaurant facing the entrance. Also a wee pub bit further down the road towards portStewart. About 20 minute walk down into portrush. Walking may not suit people with walking disabilities as hill quite steep on walk back up the hill from portrush. Showers cost 50p for 6 minutes. Don't be put off by this as 6 minutes is plenty of time and showers are fab. Bit of a queue at times but moved quickly. We had fab stay and might book in again for the air show in September

As always Carrick Dhu was clean and well kept. Toilets and showers are always spotless and the camping area is great for the children to play safely and meet other children.
Great location as you can burn off those bbq calories with a walk down to the town and leave the car behind. (Also tires everyone out so you all get a good night's sleep!!).
The warden/reception are always on hand to answer any queries and the on site Chip shop is great!!
This is our main campsite every year as we never have any problems or complaints.
