Review for Lough Key, Boyle, Co Roscommon on 29th May 2017 submitted by A O'Kane
Fab forest site. The
caravan pitches are secluded wee spots in among the trees. They are fairly
shaded with just dappled sunshine getting through. Our pitch was hard standing
with just enough space for the awning, we secured it down with large rocks
which was fine as it wasn’t windy. There are also large open spaces for tents.
Great toilet block and kitchen area, but there is a fee to use the electric hobs,
kettles and showers. There is a café and ice cream stall in the visitor centre
and a seated veranda with views of the lake.
There are lots of activities; segways, tree top walk with audio tour, boat
trips on the stunning lake and a fabulous play park (all at a cost but there
are some discounts available for campers). It’s also ideal for long walks and
bike rides. Our kids clocked up miles on their bikes over a 3-night stay!
Even though we stayed in a caravan the forest setting made it feel more like
camping. Would highly recommend.
